A letter (I have the translated text) was hidden in a bottle as Russia troops advanced on the Sommerfeld farm in June 1944. Alwin Sommerfeld was in his late 50's at the time and all his children were at war. He hid the note in a bottle and walled it up in a fence. It was discovered in 1999 during a renovation and sent to the museum in Nowy Dwor Gdanski (Polan) in 2011. The following story was published in a local newspaper and brought to my attention via Facebook. Due to the pre-war calligraphy pieces of text, even those little damaged, are difficult to decipher and translate. - Letter show to someone who can read the writing style - says Paulina Strzalkowska of Zulawski Historical Park. - For the New Manor House and Museum Gd former inhabitants still coming, so you can take advantage of their knowledge. Maybe that will be able to cull more information from this letter. Add Comment First Post! 01/26/2012
